OPMAS Warns Danish 0% VAT Nearing an End
Source: fly-corporate.com
The 0% VAT rate in Denmark ends 31 December 2009. According to a letter recently distributed by Lasse Rungholm of Denmark's OPM Aviation Services ApS (OPMAS), if you are considering buying an aircraft and want to save the VAT and up the resale value, now is definitely the time to do it.
While the attractive 0% VAT rate ends 31 December, there is a transitional rule allowing certain deliveries to take place until 30 June 2010 under special circumstances. OPMAS advises that if a contract for an aircraft outside the EU (i.e. the US or Switzerland) is signed before 31 December, it can be imported into the EU via Denmark until 30 June 2010 with the present 0% VAT rate (specific requirements must be met).
If the aircraft being considered is in the EU already, it can still be delivered without VAT until 30 June 2010 (but again specific requirements must be met).
