Japanese Pilot Neglects The Gear A 57-year-old pilot with about 400 hours in his logbook since getting his license in 1977 made a gear-up landing this week at an airport in Kobe in western Japan.
The international news service AFP reports that restaurant owner Yoshihiko Yamamoto told police "I've forgot to put the landing gear down." The airplane was reportedly a six-place Beech single. Yamamoto was the only person on board, and was on a "training flight" according to reports.
The incident closed the airport for about two and a half hours, reportedly causing delays of up to four hours for nine commercial flights and about 1,200 passengers.
