Bell Helicopter to Launch New Eco-Innovation Initiative
Source: fly-corporate.com
Bell Helicopter has created a new enterprise-wide eco-innovation initiative aimed at evaluating its products using a lifecycle assessment.
A lifecycle assessment follows the total production process from mining of the raw materials, to manufacturing and finally the aircraft end of life. Bell's 429 is the first to be evaluated and Bell expects results later this year. The 429's eco-friendly features include low noise that meets stage 3 noise standards, fuel consumption reduction and the significant use of composites to reduce the overall weight of the aircraft.
In addition, Bell Helicopter has provided an update on the 429 helicopter programme and expected certification date.
Bob Fitzpatrick, senior vice president of Business Development and Commercial Programs stated, "We continue to make great progress on the 429 programme and expect it to be certified by the end of this month with customer deliveries beginning shortly after certification."
Bell Helicopter has also selected its first Customer Service Facility (CSF) provider in Russia. Kazan Aviation Enterprise was appointed as a CSF offering field maintenance for the Bell model 407 helicopter.
Danny Maldonado, vice president for Customer Support and Bell's Chief Services Officer said, "Recently Bell Helicopter has seen a tremendous increase in the demand for our products in the Russian market. Establishing a CSF there is another indication of the growth we are experiencing, and the importance we place on the Russian market."
