Aviation News Item: 00114 18th Nov 2009 TSA proposes new repair station security rules Source: ubmaviationnews.com The US Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has proposed new rules for FAA certified repair stations, both within the US and abroad, to implement additional security policies and infrastructure. The TSA would have the authority to require the FAA to suspend or revoke the certificate of any non-compliant repair station. The provisions would include measure to control access to facilities, aircraft and/or aircraft components; identifying individuals with access to such facilities; and means to verify employee background information. The new rules would affect only repair stations that service aircraft with a maximum takeoff weight (MTOW) of 12,500lb (5,670kg) and above. There would also be different physical security measures between repair stations that are located on or adjacent to an airport and those located elsewhere. |
