Aviation News Item: 00113 18th Nov 2009 Bombardier breaks ground for CSeries wing manufacturing facility in Belfast Source: ubmaviationnews.com Bombardier has broken ground for its CSeries wing manufacturing and assembly facility in Belfast, Northern Ireland, UK. The 600,000ft2 (55,740m2) factory is being built in two phases and will incorporate an existing production building. After the company's Belfast assembled a pre-production demonstrator composite wing using a resin transfer infusion process, initial testing is to begin in early 2010. The first proper test wing is to be delivered to the company's assembly line facility in Mirabel, Quebec, in 2011. The Canadian said that 800 jobs would be generated during full production in Belfast as well as many more in the wider supply chain. |
