Gulfstream names Richard Shaw Planeparts Program Manager

Source: evaint.com

Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. has announced that Richard Shaw has been appointed manager of Gulfstream PlaneParts, a spare-parts subscription service that offers Gulfstream owners and operators a way to manage their yearly maintenance costs. The program was formerly known as BudgetPlus.

The Gulfstream PlaneParts program for mid-cabin aircraft began in 2005. The pilot program for large-cabin aircraft launched in June during the 2010 Gulfstream Operators' Conference.

"At a time when we all are faced with controlling costs, this program gives Gulfstream operators a tool to accurately forecast their expenditures," said Mark Burns, president, Gulfstream Product Support.

PlaneParts is a cost-per-flight-hour program that provides participants with replacement components for parts removed due to wear, life limit or failure in exchange for monthly payments based on the aircraft's age and achieved hours and landings.

The benefits of Gulfstream PlaneParts for owners and operators include predictable costs for coverage of scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, removing the risk for cost overruns as well as saving operators time because of single-source part ordering.

Before moving to Gulfstream, Shaw spent 25 years with the product support unit of Bombardier Aerospace in Montreal.
