News Helicopter Makes Emergency Landing Near Detroit

Was Covering Funeral Procession For A Marine Killed In Afghanistan A helicopter providing pool television coverage for the funeral procession of a Marine killed in action in Afghanistan made news of its own Thursday when it made an emergency landing following an engine failure.
The helicopter was being shared by several Detroit area TV stations. The Detroit News reports that the crew heard two loud bangs, and then the aircraft began to lose power. It landed safely behind a Jeep dealership about four miles west of Selfridge Air National Guard base just before 1100.
None of the three people on board the helicopter were injured. The helicopter was following the funeral procession of Cpl Jeffery R. Standfast, who died in combat June 16th.
